Drawing invites us to take a closer look at things – to retrace our steps, look, and look again. This time, we will look to the plant kingdom as an inexhaustible source of inspiration, mastering different techniques – charcoal, watercolors, markers, etc. – and try several painting media.

The course is conceived of as a series of progressive workshops to unfold from October to May. The first six workshops (October-November) will be followed by a new module in January 2025.

Conducted by: Mónica Martínez and Raúl Domínguez Pazo
When: Saturdays, 5:15 pm-6:45 pm
Where: Educational Area
Ages: 6-10
Language: Spanish
Part I: October 19-November 23

Saturday, October 19: Where Do We Stand When We Look at Things?

Let’s take a different look at roots, seeds, and flowers using a magnifying glass. Then let’s draw them at a different scale, recreating their shapes and textures.

Saturday, October 26: Seeing with Our Hands

How can we identify forms through touch? How can we use drawings to represent tactile sensations?

Saturday, November 2: Done/Undone

Let’s focus on negative space, moving from figure to background and then back to figure. In so doing, we will learn about geometrization and ratio.

Saturday, November 9: Plant Inventory

How many types of plants can you identify and draw around you? Let’s play botanists and do some fieldwork in the environs of the Museum!

Saturday, November 16: Drawing a Forest

Do plants and trees “talk” to each other in the woods? What you can and cannot see in this type of ecosystem: roots, nests, burrows, mycelium… Let’s draw a charcoal mural and learn how to work with blots, contrast, and brightness.

Saturday, November 23: Let Trees Do the Drawing

Let’s work with non-human beings by attaching markers to the ends of a tree’s branches and looking at their patterns in the wind. How high can you go? How much do the branches sway? Who is the author of the drawing in the end?
