June Crespo was born in Pamplona in 1982 and graduated in Art from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2005. After several residencies in cultural institutions, she completed her Master’s Degree in Art Creation and Research also at UPV/EHU. She is the recipient of countless awards and prizes, including the 7th María José Jove Foundation International Art Prize (2019), the Ojo Crítico Award for Visual Arts (2018), the Botín Foundation Visual Arts Grant (2018), and the Gure Artea Award (2013). In addition, she teaches art at the École supérieure d’art Pays Basque in Biarritz and the UPV/EHU School of Fine Arts, among other educational centers.
Crespo earned international acclaim with her early works already. In 2022, her sculptures were included in the main show of the 59th Venice Biennale entitled The Milk of Dreams. She has shown her work in numerous solo exhibitions in some significant national and international cultural institutions, including CA2M in Madrid (Vieron su casa hacerse campo) and Artium in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Helmets), as well as in multiple group exhibitions, such as The Bark in CRAC Alsace, France; Concretos in TEA Tenerife and MUSAC, León, Spain; Fata Morgana in Jeu de Paume, Paris; and The Point of Sculpture in Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona, Spain, among others.
