Following in the footsteps of Paul Pfeiffer, in this workshop we will use images from the entertainment industry to tell our own stories. Exploring Pfeiffer’s world through his photographs and videos, we will learn to use a curious technique known as “found footage,” which is the appropriation of footage for use in new films and other works, where it takes on a new meaning.
We will use images of sports stars and other heroes to make a collaborative collage. By altering the images’ original context, we will tell new stories, with multiple new meanings. While doing this, we will discuss some of the keys to the work of Paul Pfeiffer, such as celebrity culture, stardom and anonymity, and mass entertainment.
