In these workshops, we will look to water as a source of inspiration, learning, and fun, and as a tool in the creative process. The workshops consist of fun activities exploring the connections between art, Christmas, and water.
In the artworks we will see, water is used as subject or technique. Hilma af Klint, for instance, used the wet-on-wet painting medium in some of her works, applying layers of wet paint on previous wet layers of paint. Fujiko Nakaya’s fog sculptures, including the one in the Museum, are made entirely of water.
The workshops have been designed to raise awareness of the importance of water and show how to care for it, while encouraging reflection on the feelings associated with water and Christmas. This will then be used in the creation of works of art where colors flow and mix freely or where water appears in various states, including solid state, as in snow.
