GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM BILBAO FOUNDATION
It is a private cultural foundation that manages and operates the Museum. Its governing bodies are the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the supreme governing and representative body of the Foundation. It is comprised of representatives of the Founding Trustees—Basque Government, Provincial Council of Biscay, and The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation—and of the non-founding Trustees. The Board of Trustees is chaired by the President of the Basque Government.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee exercises the management, direction, administration, and representation functions of the Foundation. Its competence extends to all legal acts and business concerning the representation of the Foundation, as well as the free administration and disposal of its assets, revenues, and products, and to the exercise of all the Foundation’s rights and actions.
It is comprised of two representatives of each of the Founding Trustees, one representative of the City of Bilbao, and up to four representatives of non-founder Trustees. The Executive Committee is chaired by the Deputy General of the Provincial Council of Biscay.
TENEDORA MUSEO DE ARTE MODERNO Y CONTEMPORÁNEO DE BILBAO, S.L.
This society is owned by the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Biscay, and its objective is to acquire and own the artworks in the Collection of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Said works are on a long-term loan to the Foundation to be exhibited to the public.
INMOBILIARIA MUSEO DE ARTE MODERNO Y CONTEMPORÁNEO DE BILBAO, S.L.
This society is owned by the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Biscay, and the City of Bilbao, and it was constituted to construct the Museum building. The Inmobiliaria is the owner of the building and the site.
