Beaches
Bilbao
Bilbao has several beaches nearby, and they can all be easily reached by Metro or bus.
Apart from sunbathing against a backdrop of incomparable scenic beauty, these beaches offer a wide range of services: toilets, showers, changing rooms, drinking fountains… and the chance to enjoy activities such as windsurfing, sea canoeing, sailing, paragliding, and, the king of water sports, surfing.
Some of the nearest beaches are La Arena in Muskiz; Las Arenas and Ereaga near the suspension bridge and the Marina; Arrigunaga near the cliffs of Galea; Gorrondatxe, a rocky and grassy beach where nudism is allowed; Barinatxe, also known as “La Salvaje”, one of the best surfing beaches; Arrietara-Atxabiribil, where you can go for long walks along the beach under the protection of the cliffs of Sopelana; and right at the end of the Metro line you will find the calmer water beaches of Plentzia and Gorliz.
