Torsion (Torsione), 1968
[...] In this suspended Torsion, some strips of flannel cloth hang from an iron ring on the wall. A heavy, round iron bar is inserted through the opening at the bottom of the cloth and twisted as tight as possible. The bar is then fixed to the wall so that it does not come undone. Once installed, the piece is not inert, since the energy accumulated and contained in it is actually in action, thrusting against the wall. This is not an entropic situation, because, to maintain itself over time, it must be constantly activated.
