Orientation session: Tarsila do Amaral. Painting Modern Brazil

Admission

Admission: Free

A session with the Museum’s Education Team to help you plan your visit to the exhibition with your students. Tour of the exhibition included. One of the leading figures of modernism in Brazil and Latin America, Tarsila do Amaral paints dreamlike landscapes and abstract geometries in bright colors, introducing aboriginal images and mythical symbols from the history of Brazil, along with avant-garde elements of style. Her original, evocative paintings challenge the boundaries between tradition and avant-garde, center and periphery, and high and popular culture, as they explore social issues, such as indigenism, cultural heritage, and colonialism.
