* Program: Faust
Opera in five acts. A new production of the Teatro Real with De Nationale Opera & Ballet, Amsterdam. Resident choir and orchestra of the Teatro Real. Music by Charles Gounod (1818-1893). Libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, from Carré’s play Faust et Marguerite (1850), in turn loosely based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Faust, Part One (1808).
Premiered at the Théâtre Lyrique in Paris on March 19, 1859. First performed at the Teatro Real on January 18, 1865.
Gounod’s Faust — the classic German legend turned into a grand opera – opened the 2018/2019 season at the Teatro Real. A captivating opera, it was directed by Àlex Ollé, becoming La Fura dels Baus’s third encounter with the German legendary character.

Language: French with subtitles in Spanish
