Nature and Art (Ages: 6–10)
Admission
€5 Museum Members / €7 general public
In these workshops, we’d like to invite you to experiment with the multiple possibilities that nature offers for artistic creation, while promoting ecological values. Held on the last two Saturdays of March, very close to two key dates in terms of environmental sustainability —World Water Day (22 March) and World Climate Day (26 March)—we will look at the shapes and patterns of nature to create a design on fabric inspired by them.
In search of our sources, we will explore the paintings of artist Tarsila do Amaral. The mountains, rivers, forests, tropical plants, and skies in her paintings celebrate the richness of Brazil and reveal a dreamlike and surreal nature. Through simplified organic forms that evoke flora and fauna, her work offers an evocative context. As a starting point for our explorations, we will visit her exhibition to ponder the deep relationship between art and nature.
In the area surrounding the Museum, we will look closely at the different natural elements—a flower, a leaf, the grass, a stick. Then, we will draw the shapes we find, simplifying them in an exercise of synthesis. After applying inks, we will make fabric prints of those images.
This experimental proposal offers resources to stimulate a deeper connection with our immediate surroundings, showing us the multiple possibilities that nature offers us to create. Designed for the whole family, the workshops are suitable for any age, ability, and interests, an enriching and meaningful experience, exploring with total freedom in a collaborative environment.
