A unique opportunity for educators to visit the exhibition at their own pace. One of the leading figures of modernism in Brazil and Latin America, Tarsila do Amaral paints dreamlike landscapes and abstract geometries in bright colors, introducing aboriginal images and mythical symbols from the history of Brazil, along with avant-garde elements of style. Her original, evocative paintings challenge the boundaries between tradition and avant-garde, center and periphery, and high and popular culture, as they explore social issues, such as indigenism, cultural heritage, and colonialism.
