Krzysztof Penderecki was a fundamental composer, whose atonal, deeply emotional style earned him a place in many film soundtracks, including The Shining and The Exorcist. He had a special connection to nature and trees, which were a major source of inspiration for his music. Together with his wife, Elżbieta, he built and nurtured a remarkable garden in Lusławice, Poland, featuring more than 1,500 specimens. Exploring this composer’s creative process is also a way of celebrating the International Day of Forests, held on March 21, and marking the beginning of spring.
