In July, Euskadiko Ikasleen Jazz Orkestra (EIJO), the Basque Country Student Jazz Orchestra, are celebrating their 10th anniversary. An initiative of the Education Department of the Government of the Basque Country, EIJO has gathered young students from Euskadi’s music schools since 2014. The ensemble combines the usual jazz sounds with traditional Basque instruments such as the txistu, the txalaparta, the trikitixa, and the alboka. Over the years, they have built a repertoire of their own, including works that help the students improve their skills and become better professional musicians. In their concert at the Museum, they will perform Lau Teilatu (Miguel Blanco), Gaztearen Olerkia (Iñaki Askunze), Maitia Kattalin (Carlos Sagi), Ahohandi (Sergi Vergés), Nola Ausartzen Zarete? (Alain Sancho), Ode (Chris Kase), and Traslación (Luis Verde), among other works.

This concert was organized in the context of the TopARTE program of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
