In April, Books Alive! finds inspiration in the evocative landscapes painted by Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral. We will take a look at her vibrant scenes in the Museum, using her compositions to create our own fantasy world. We will also listen to the story of a land without edges, whose residents share a view of justice that moves them to do good.
Using a variety of materials—both hard and soft, fluffy and rough—we will build our own landscape, with cushions for mountains and textiles for rivers. Then, we will think about the characters for our giant landscape. The activity is meant to be an exercise in play and imagination, encouraging creativity and exploration in groups.
